Grimsby Bible Church
Grimsby Bible Church is a Reformed Baptist church that holds to the doctrines of grace and belongs to the Sovereign Grace Fellowship of Canada. Its statement of faith holds the Bible to be the complete, inspired and inerrant Word of God, and teaches that God saves his elect by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. It upholds the historic confessions of the church and the five solas of the Reformation, and observes the Lord's Supper and baptism by immersion as the two ordinances Christ commanded.
Grimsby Bible Church meets at 377 Park Road North, just north of the Queen Elizabeth Way off exit 68, in the part of Grimsby known as Grimsby Beach. The building was put up in 1952 as St. Philip-by-the-Lake, an Anglican church started by the rector of St. Andrew’s, Grimsby, to give the Beach a church of its own; the Anglican parish was disestablished in October 2011.
The congregation is a member of the Sovereign Grace Fellowship of Canada, a voluntary association of Baptist churches that rest in the sovereign grace of God, and also lists The Gospel Coalition among its associations. Its pastor is Mathieu (Mat) Brideau, a graduate of Toronto Baptist Seminary. The church supports the work of Wycliffe Bible Translators and Pioneers.
There are two services each Sunday, at half past ten in the morning and at four in the afternoon; on the third Sunday of the month a luncheon replaces the afternoon service. The morning service is livestreamed on YouTube.
What to expect
The church gives first place to the straightforward preaching and teaching of the Bible, under the motto 'Holding forth the Word of Life'. A nursery for children under four is available downstairs during Sunday services, and there is space at the back of the church to sit with a small child; parents are welcome to keep their children with them in the service.
