Living Light Canadian Reformed Church

Living Light is a Canadian Reformed congregation in Grimsby whose members believe they are saved by grace to love and know God and to love and serve others. It holds to the five solas of the Reformation and confesses the Apostles', Nicene and Athanasian creeds with the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dort.

Living Light Canadian Reformed Church was instituted on 12 September 2021 in the building of Covenant Canadian Reformed Church at Grassie, and began worshipping a week later in St. John’s Presbyterian Church on Mountain Street. On 25 June 2024 it bought that church when the Presbyterian congregation moved to share Trinity United’s building, and from September 2024 it worshipped there as its own. Its minister is Rev. Rolf J. den Hollander, and it belongs to Classis Niagara.

The church at 10 Mountain Street was built in 1928 of red Grimsby sandstone, which the Presbyterian congregation that built it quarried itself; the Town of Grimsby designated it a heritage property in September 2025. The building is now being renovated, work the congregation expected in August 2026 to take six months or more.

Until it is finished, Living Light meets each Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the church of Vineyard Canadian Reformed Church on John Street in Beamsville, the next town to the east, which keeps its own services there at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Services are also streamed on the congregation’s YouTube channel.

What to expect

Services last about ninety minutes and include prayer, Scripture reading, congregational singing and the preaching of the gospel. The congregation says you do not need to be familiar with these traditions to join it for worship, and that everyone is welcome.
